Here's a pic someone took of my car at one of the last local autoX's. Supposedly smoke would come out when going from part throttle to WOT around turns and such.
But on straightways, they said there was barely anything they could be see when I was completely at WOT.
Any ideas to what this looks like? coolant, oil, or is this the color of smoke from running too rich (which i totally am).
BTW, this is on a 95 GSR, 6psi, JR FMU, timing 7 degrees, Kami 4-1, 2.5" carsound, 2.5" catback, 2.5" dynomax super turbo muffler.
thanks

It could be your tires starting to smoke around the corners
But, it looks like oil to me

Yeah, the white smoke is usually indicative of an oil prob. Just have someone follow you, or have someone drive your car and follow it to see what color the smoke is.
BTW - how loud is your full 2.5in setup?

ack..My car did that too. Try a compression test to check the bottom end. Best of luck.

most likey cause are the valve seals going bad or hardening. what is happening is that when you go around a corner the oil in the head goes towards the side of the valve cover creating a "puddle" when that oil is there on top of the seals you get the white smoke out the exhaust. now when you are driving a straight line the oil returns to the pan normally. all of my old high milage nissans did the same thing

White = coolant, blue = oil, black = rich.

thats what im thinking might be the problem after talking to a few people. One of my friends who works in a shop told me that it was from oil building up around the valves on turns.
Any recommendations on how to deal with this?
I havent really ever dug deeply into a head yet on a car, just the intake and exhaust manifolds (Easy stuff).
If I take my valve cover off, can I see the valve seals from there and replace them, or would i have to remove the whole head?
also, how much would it cost around to get them replaced, and would there be anything else recommended while doing that?
im leaning towards thinking its the seals, since my car is startin to get up in mileage (107k) and has been SC'ed for 10k miles.

its noticable under WOT, but for regular daily driving, it barely noticable compared to most aftermarket exhausts. Thats due to a 22" long, 2.5" inlet/outlet resonator i put on there to tame the sound down.

most likely seals will fix it and you can do it without taking the head off the car. However if the valve guides are worn enough the seals alone will not solve the problem. To fix it properly and not just doing a band aid, take the head off and get the valve guides measured and the valve stems. see if they are in spec. If not replace the valves guides and seals. If all this is nessessary you might as well think about upgraded springs and retainers and possibly SS valves. Hope that helps you out on you decision.

what would you recommendations be on on fixing this?
should i just run it out until one of the valves get messed up and then fix it, or should I just go ahead and inspect it and only replace the seals?
how much would fixing both of these things cost usually, ie: replace a messed up valve & seals, compared to just going ahead and doing it now and replacing the seals?
